Professor Wang has his expertise in fungal pathogens with a focus on Candida albicans. His main interest lies in the identification and characterization of both host and fungal factors that determine the pathogenicity of Candida albicans. His main discoveries include the hypha-specific gene HGC1 that controls hyphal morphogenesis and a range of Hgc1/Cdc28 substrates that play various roles in polarity control, vesicle transport and virulence. He also discovered that bacterial peptidoglycan subunits in the blood are potent inducers of C. albicans hyphal growth.

Janne del Carmen Rojas Vera, Venezuelan, Doctor of Philosophy in Phytochemistry, has expertise in isolation and characterization of secondary metabolites obtained from plants, as well as in essential oil characterization and antimicrobial, antioxidant and cytotoxic activities carried out with extracts, oils and isolated compounds. Currently is a professor working at University of Los Andes, Mérida, Venezuela where she teaches Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry and Natural Products Chemistry. Has published around 70 scientific papers and 8 book chapters and has evaluated 60 articles for different scientific journals.

Dr. Mustafa SEVINDIK graduated from Gaziantep University, Department of Biology with honorary degree. Gaziantep University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Biology graduate education. Then he studied PhD at the Biology Department of the Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences, Akdeniz University. More than 40 international and national publications are available. There are 55 international and 10 national notifications. There is a section author in one international book. He served on the scientific and organization committee of 8 international congresses. He is the editorial board member of 14 national and international journals. He research interests are Fungal Systematics, Fungal Biotechnology, Medicinal Plants, Environmental Pollution, Medical Mushrooms, Aeromycology, Plant Diseases, Medical Antimicrobial Antioxidants, Experimental Animal and Fungi Breeding.

María Francisca Colom is associate professor of Medical Microbiology at Miguel Hernandez University in Spain. She has extensive experience in medical microbiology teaching and a long-standing career in research in the field of medical mycology. Her research activity has mainly focused on the interaction between the environment and human fungal pathogens and saprophytes. Her most relevant contributions are within the field of Cryptococcus and cryptococcosis, where she has demonstrated the source of specific species or genotypes in patients’ environment. This experience lead her to her current projects in the study of lung mycobiome and its interaction with the domestic environment, as well as the study of the environmental origin of mycetoma agents in Turkana county (Kenya). The latter is an international aid project for the prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of mycetoma, a neglected disease in poor countries.
